Genji Japanese Restaurant @ Hilton Petaling Jaya

October 16, 2015

Genji Japanese Restaurant has been around at Kuala Lumpur about 26+ years, is one of the well-established and popular older Japanese restaurants in KL to serving authentic Japanese foods. Thankfully, I was invited to Genji Japanese restaurant at Hilton Hotel Petaling Jaya for a session of food review. If you are my blog follower, i think you should know that i love Japanese food so much! My father bring me to Genji Japanese Restaurant few years ago for dining because he love the foods here, how excited that i got a chance to review their food taste and check out this brand new Genji after their renovation!
The minute i step into Genji Japanese restaurant, i was "greeted" warmly their wooden floors, wood-panelled walls, partitions, screens and framed windows. It is quite typical of classic Japanese restaurant, simple, and classy.
There are few private 'tatami' dining rooms at the Genji Japanese Restaurant where patrons can experience the luxury dining without disturb by outsider.
Kick start the gastronomic journey with this trio appetisers.
From top to bottom : Shirao Wasabi, Kaki Tempura, Unagi Tama
Shirao Wasabi - White Baits is being marinated with Wasabi.
It left the scent of wasabi in my mouth and the baits with a little salty that's been tantalising my tastebuds.
Kaki Tempura - Deep-fried Oyster
Fresh juicy oyster rolled in bread crumbs and deep fried to a golden perfection, absolutely delicious!
Unagi Tama -Deep-fried Eel in Japanese Omelette
Tangy Unagi wrapped in thick Japanese omelette that gives a delightful bites.
Seafood Salad
This is a healthy combination of fresh seafood with fresh greens. Topped with a homemade Goma dressing, this colourful salad is bright-looking and tasty with fresh chunky salmon and tuna sashimi,  prawns and raw inside. I like the this salad while the Goma dressing that gives extra excitement in this salad dish!
Dobin Mushi
This Dobin Mushi is surprising me which rare from Japanese cuisine. It is a traditional Japanese seafood broth and serve this warm-tummy soup with shrimp, chicken, soy sauce, lime, and matsutake mushroom in an elegant, single-serving Dobin teapot and drinking it from the teacup so can taste it slowly and you'll be amazed. A dash of lime juice gives an extra kick to the soup.
Jumbo Ebi Ura Maki
Reversed roll with tiger prawn tempura, flying fish roe, salad and cucumber. Succulent tiger prawns lightly deep-fried to a perfection, mixed with vegetable to give a taste of crunchy and crispy.
The Trio : Sashimi of Salmon, Tuna and Sea Bream; Grilled Tiger Prawn on Potato Salad; and Salt-grilled Cod on Fried Rice.
I'm amazed by creatively of the chef's to created a trio combination. The grilled cod is slightly crisp at the edge and put on top of garlic fried rice, taste excellent while sweet and rich cod melt in your mouth with aroma of garlic fried rice. Sashimi wrapped in seaweed lay on bed of ice cube to keep the freshness bites, i like this so much!
Premium Sashimi Moriawase Set
Includes fillets of raw maguro (tuna), kanpachi, salmon, hotategai (Hokkaido scallop), tako (boiled octopus) and ikura. No way to skip sashimi when dining in a Japanese Restaurant. Presentable assorted sashimi boat with the freshest thick sashimi slices, each bite is just a single-serving taste of heaven.
Scallop Fried Rice
This Scallop fried rice will blow your mind. Using the fresh scallops and works well with this vibrant and savory fried rice.
Genji Combo
Culinary adventure will not be complete without delectable spread of desserts. We had hot and cold combination which is red bean soup with sticky glutinous rice ball, fruits and green tea ice cream cake! The red bean soup is so warm and creamy while the cooling green tea ice cream cake with the soft texture is perfectly melts into my mouth. Such a sweet ending of this scrumptious journey =)
