Sky Palace Chinese restaurant (食唯天) situated in One City USJ mall, specialises in all manner of exquisite Cantonese cuisine pimped up with luxurious ingredients. Customers can also order any dishes not in their menu, as long as the chef can do it!
I had a delightful dinner with Executive Chef of Sky Palace Chinese restaurant, Chong Chee Ming (张细明) who are having over 18 years of culinary experience in Cantonese, Fuzhou, Hakka and Guangxi cuisine alongside magnificent fruit and vegetable carving art.
The restaurant is tucked at the corner and split across two floors, has a very chic, elegant and modern design.
It has two VVIP and seven VIP luxurious private dining rooms equipped with karaoke facilities, offer both privacy and comfort to the customers requiring a more serene dining environment away from the crowd, what a treat! Absolutely is an ideal exclusive dining place for any corporate, family and friend gatherings!
Fruit Platter on Ice 冰镇鲜果盘
A rare and delightful surprise! Usually we are starting our dinner with soup or a combination plate of 4 dishes, but Sky Palace served fruit platter as a first meal. Actually this is the correct way, gain the proper nutrients that fruit if you do eat fruit on an empty stomach, so please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals!
Lobster Dumpling in Superior Broth 茶壶龙虾灌汤饺
This superior broth is simmered over low heat for several hours using crushed lobster shell, smooth dumpling skin enveloping lobster meat, seafood and mushroom. Sip away the soup, it was so good and warm the stomach. Then enjoy the whole dumpling in one mouthful, aww~~~ Satisfying!!!
Duo-style Deep-fried Pork Knuckle 芝麻沙拉片肉咸猪手
Next, all of them (sorry i don't take pork) were so excited because they smell the aromas from the pork knuckle! Pork knuckle deep fried to the perfection to achieving crispy, and golden brown outer skin. The meat was juicy, tender and aromatic, it was served in two ways:
1. Sliced out crispy skin from the whole knuckle, then wrapped over with thin crepes and vegetables, glaze with either sweet hoi sin sauce or Japanese sesame dressing.
Does it sound familiar? It is similar with how to served Peking duck. =)
2. The remaining meat were shredded into a Thai-style salad, so appetising and spicy.
Smoked Cod Fish with Organic Vegetables 酱烧鳕鱼有机蔬
Smoked cod served on a bed of mayo, bonito flakes and fish roes. When the dish add on these 3 elements(mayo, bonito flakes and fish roes), it reminds me of Japanese dish so i think this is kind of fusion styled and it is successful to make smoked cod fish become a lip-smacking dish!
紫素罗百花芥菜
This dish definitely caught the attention while served on the table. Beautiful plate presentation with prawn and pork paste served on green, just like little gold fishes swimming to the flower pond where surrounded with steamed snow fungus.
Claypot Snow Crab Rice 石锅荷叶蟹粉蒸饭团
Last but everyone’s genuine favourite, Claypot Snow Crab Rice is a winner of the night. Topped the huge snow crab on aromatic pot of steamed rice topped with whole snow crab, imparted a subtle fragrant. All of us finish off the rice in seconds!
