RM78+ ONLY for 7 course fine dine at MARCO Creative Cuisine!

April 19, 2017

What would you think if you heard about "fine dining"?

If you went for fine dining before in KL, surely you must know the cheapest price is from RM250 per pax based on restaurant ratings. Why is fine dining so expensive? All the experiences in fine dining collection offer the freshest, seasonal ingredients expertly prepared by talented and critically acclaimed chefs. It should be on every foodie's must-try list, at least once.
Let me introducing the KL’s latest addition burgeoning culinary scene.
MARCO Creative Cuisine, a modern gastronomy restaurant with a fine dine concept but you only need to forking out RM78+ per head and it is included 7-course meal and drinks (premium coffee/tea)!
Helmed by up-and-coming chef-owner Daren Leong, presenting distinctive culinary creations in a handcrafted and offers multi-course menu that uses fresh artisan produce and is Western influenced, yet unconfined by cooking styles and cultures.
MARCO is located inside 1 Utama Shopping Centre (Old Wing) on the ground floor, nearby Pappa Rich. Not difficult to spot it because i believe you can't ignore the huge aquarium display with beautiful rare jellyfish at the entrance of MARCO, also their elegant gold & white shopfront which would stand out amongst other stores.

I am sure that huge aquarium is the main attraction before you step into restaurant, because while we taking picture at shopfront, many peoples pass by and stop to ask is it real jellyfish, LOL! YES! It is REAL jellyfish swimming in aquarium.

If eating at fine dining restaurants isn't a habit of yours, MARCO gives you a first good experience. It is a 62-seater restaurant with exclusive-looking interior, restaurant color schemes is my favourite turquoise and white with hints of gold color!
Every corner is Instagram-worthy.
MARCO's Journey of Flavours Menu

Kick start our journey of flavours with the palate cleanser to wake up our tastebuds before the next dishes.
Velvety Matcha-Lime Shooter
Velvety Matcha-Lime foam covering a chilled Lime Snow
  | Appetiser |

Savoury Eclair
Gruyere Flavoured Pâte à Choux decorated with Aubergine Caviar, Green Chile Pesto and Tomato Confit.
Who said Eclair was just a sweet treat? This unique savoury eclairs, with delicious puree of aubergine laced with green chile pesto and tomato confit, gives me a tangy taste with a twist of spicy sour flavour, amazingly appetizing!
  | Soup |

Truffled Mushroom Soup
A plant-based creamy mushroom soup infused with Truffle Oil. Truffled mushroom soup is my all time favourite, MARCO's version is taste good but i cannot accents the deep, rich flavor of the mushrooms and aromatic of truffle oil. A little disappointed.
Strawberry Gazpacho

Recommended by MARCO. It is a chilled cold soup of strawberries, garnished with dehydrated strawberries and microgreens. Strawberry soup sounds so special to us, so my friend decided to give it a try. It is my first time to drink COLD soup, but taste is unexpectedly good with the unique combination of strawberries, red wine vinegar and onion!

French Onion Soup

Caramelised onions broth accompanied by French toast, is authentic and has an amazing depth of flavor. It is so good to comforting on a chilly day with this hot bowl of French onion soup especially with a thick slice of toasted bread loaded melty cheese and lots of caramelized onions, OMG!
  | Entree |
Savoury Ice Cream Salad
Assorted Baby Leaves, Heirloom Tomato, Seasonal Microgreens and Violet Flowers served with Savoury Ice Cream. I am not a fans of salad, but when i saw this unique ice cream salad, i decided to go for it. This salad is accompanied with lots of greens as usual, but features a large dollop of ice cream made from sea salt and skimmed milk. Hmm... the flavours is kinda weird as i think all these ingredients actually don't quite go together.
  | Main |
Duck Breast with Orange Puree and Roasted Beetroot
Chef Daren's most notable main dish!
Sous Vide Pan Seared Peking Duck Breast with Orange Puree, Roasted Beetroot and Valrhona Dark Chocolate.
Inspired by Cantonese roast duck, which is usually a dry dish, Daren uses the sous vide method to make the meat tender and finishes the dish with an accompaniment of Naval orange and 66 percent dark chocolate sauce. Using Sous Vide cooking method, the duck breast is amazingly tender and juicy, please don't feel awkward on that dark chocolate sauce as the chocolate and duck both bring out the richness in the other, a burst of sour, bitter and sweet notes for the taste buds to explore. It is my most favourite dish among all!
Squid Ink Japonica Rice

Another recommended by MARCO. It is a Japanese Short Grain Rice cooked with Squid Ink accompanied with Prawn, Baby Squid and Omelette, served with Garlic Mayonnaise.
Chicken Roulade with Brussels Sprouts
A roulade of juicy chicken thigh with crunchy Brussels Sprouts and flavourful chicken jus.
Salmon with Jet Black Hollandaise
Atlantic Salmon with Squid Ink Hollandaise, garnished with pickled beetroot and green chile pesto. The plate presentation is so beautiful with colourful ingredients, salmon is perfectly cooked with the crispy crunchy skin and the salmon is just pink inside.
Lets complete meal that ends on a sweet note!
  | Dessert |
Deconstructed Lemon Meringue Pie
Unlike the boring traditional lemon meringue pie, Chef Daren's version is technically plated with elements of Lemon Curd, Passion Fruit Gel, Italian Meringue and White Chocolate Sherbet. Before i order this, waiter has warned me that dessert is quite sweet. But since i choose coffee as my drinks, i believe it can balance out the sweetness. This dessert is refreshing and all elements can be eaten together in harmony, nice!
Crème Brûlée with White Chocolate Sherbet
Lush Egg Custard accompanied by White Chocolate Sherbet and Meringue Kisses.

Raspberry Decadence

Luscious Raspberry Cheesecake with Raspberry Gel accompanied by Lemon Meringue Shards and Passion Fruit Gel. My friend was impressed with this raspberry decadence, velvety cheesecake paired with the bright summertime flavor of raspberry, lemon and passion fruit.
  | Drinks |
Single Origin, French Press Coffee
In MARCO, drinks will served last after dessert.

The menu will be change and updated every 3-6 months, i hope Chef Daren will bring another surprises to us on my next visit.
  | #Bowie's Verdict |
1. I love this place and the foods! Look at the huge aquarium with jellyfish swaying gently in the water, it's like an instant mood boost on hectic days when i'm feeling tense.
2. Fine dining without burning a hole in the pocket.
3. Their staff are friendly and well-trained, so the vibe not too stuffy or intimidating, despite this is fine dine concept restaurant.
4. Recommended dishes: French Onion Soup, Duck Breast with Orange Puree and Roasted Beetroot, Squid Ink Japonica Rice, Raspberry Decadence, Deconstructed Lemon Meringue Pie (if you are sweet tooth)

Everyone loves a piping hot plate of street foods or fast foods. But sometimes you want to spoil yourself or a loved one with something nicer or looking some nice restaurant for special occasion celebration, you might thinking a decadent multiple-course dinner with well-trained waiters standby around you, better than Hong Kong style restaurant, right?
So definitely i will come back again, MARCO!
