I am going Hobart with my family, so it's not good to stay in hotel. I am strongly recommend to stay in service apartment if you are going with family and more than 4 persons. It is not cheap as hotel but service apartment has a fully-equiped modern open kitchen, en suite bathrooms, contemporary living hall, 2 comfortable bedrooms, working place, private balcony, dining table, dishwasher, washing machine etc.
This is my best choice - Somerset on Salamanca, Hobart. I can't remember the rate but you need to contact them for rate enquiries and booking. They do have another hotel type near pier (Somerset on the Pier,Hobart) , but i choose at Salamanca because it just situated a minutes walking distance from Central Business District and Salamanca Market, the most happening place. You can walk around there and you can find a lots of famous bakery or cafe in small street.
Ball & Chain Grill, that is my brother recommend to us for dinner place and it just within a minutes from our apartment (at Salamanca Market) . It is a modern , popular fine cuisine, specializing in steaks and local seafoods, all cook on authentic charcoal grill ( only one in Tassie). There are always full house and long queue, please be patient to wait.
