Powers Up The Fit and Athletic with Potatoes USA

US Potatoes has always been synonymous with nutritious diets and meals for many Malaysian households. But, US Potatoes also are a good choice to fuel the demands of athletes as it is easily digestible and more energy dense than any other popular vegetable. 
This little US Potatoes are a uniquely powerful vegetable contain 620 milligrams of potassium, with more potassium than a medium-size banana! In Nutrition Today (a US journal), it is suggested that a balanced diet high in natural, quality carbohydrate rich foods may be optimal to improving physical performance among elite endurance athletes. Hence, potatoes are perfect for aiding muscle, cardiovascular and nervous system function during long endurance events.
Globally, potatoes are gaining buzz as a performance food. During the Winter Olympics 2018 in South Korea, the newly-released Olympian Menu acknowledged nutrition is now a critical part of athletes' strategy to win and potatoes have been a main staple! 
Few days ago, Potatoes USA showcased the goodness of US Potatoes in a themed "Power Up with US Potatoes" event at Sime Darby Convention Centre to highlight the importance of potatoes in the diet of athletes and sharing the potato fitness message to Malaysians. 
In the event, Noel Chelliah is a well-known Fitness Leader/ Certified Health Coach from Daily Muscle Lighthouse, he expounded how potatoes are good for daily nutritional meals, weight management and sports. In order to eat right, one needs to calculate daily food intake and the right amounts of carbohydrates/ protein/ fat, potatoes fit the bill as a well-balanced nutritious food.

As a Fitness trainer and two-time SEA Games triathlon gold medallist, Kimbely Yap shared the nutrients/ energy requirements for triathlons and how US Potatoes are utilised as a fuel for fitness buffs and sportspersons impact competitive sports performance.
After sharing session, we are honoured to have celebrity chef Muhammad Naim Ramli to demonstrated 3 recipes for the athletes using US Potatoes as a key ingredient. Chef Naem was a winner of Hero Oven TV3 2016 and host of numerous cooking shows namely Dapur Panas TV3, Dapur Bujang HYPPTV, Dapur Western HYPPTV.
