ALL You Can Eat Taiwanese Imperial Hot pot buffet @ Chun Ciou Hot Pot 春秋战锅

January 2, 2017

Happy New Year everyone! I didn't went for NYE countdown party but i had a lavish and scrumptious New Year dinner with my friends at Chun Ciou Hot Pot, a newly opened hot pot restaurant which located along Old Klang Road, Kuala Lumpur.
Chun Ciou is a stand-alone double-storey building which paint in all black with a huge signage on top, easy to spot it as it is nearby 3rd Mile Square or 9 Seputeh Condo Old Klang Road, you'll see it along the Old Klang Road towards Mid Valley. I had so much good food yesterday and i can't wait to share with you guys, 'good things must share', am i right? =)
Originated from Taiwan, Chun Ciou Hot Pot (春秋战锅) is the FIRST Authentic Taiwanese restaurant serving Hot Pot buffet in Imperial style in Malaysia.
As the name Chun Ciou is inspired from Spring and Autumn and the Warring States Periods 春秋战国, Chun Ciou's contemporary interior design is featuring a blend of elegant and heroic Chinese touch with elements of antique windows, bamboo walls, terracotta army replicas, it's like stepping into ancient Chinese world. This 2-storey building comes with a lift and fully air-conditioned, create a very cozy and airy dining ambience, I believe it will become a new trend for lunch steamboat very soon. Private rooms are available for someone who looking for privacy and occasion celebration. The most important thing is it is incredibly spacious, wide row table spacing, is not packed even though full-house.
Beautiful traditional Chinese lanterns light up the room, matching with classy tableware, every corner in this restaurant is photo-worthy!
Chun Ciou Hot Pot are here to serve you the best from Taiwan, so get ready to experience their "served-to-table" hotpot buffet with unlimited imported premium meat and ingredients! Do remember, all ingredients can be refill and refill again included appetiser and dessert!
First, it's important to pick the right kind of soup broth. In Chun Ciou, they are offering two types of flavourful broth for a pot:
精选汤底 Featured Soup Base
壽喜湯底Sukiyaki Soup
湖盐汤底Lakesalt Soup
高级豚骨汤底 Tonkatsu Soup
蒙古麻辣汤底 Spicy Soup
台湾药膳汤底 Herbal Soup
东炎汤底 Tomyam Soup
I had try their Sukiyaki Soup, Lakesalt Soup, Tonkatsu Soup and Spicy Soup. It is my very first time to try the LakeSalt Soup Base (湖盐汤底), i don't even had it during my Taiwan trip. My first impression of this soup base is quite similar to local Superior Soup (清汤) with a mild taste, but after soak all ingredients into broth which helps enhance any flavor in the soup, this LakeSalt soup base is the perfect to boil and reboil while other soup base become salty. It is also the most popular soup base among all!
My second favourite is the Sukiyaki Soup Base (壽喜湯底), so flavourful with a hint of sweetness and best for dipping the meats. I am a big fan of spicy soup(麻辣汤底) but this version is lack of spiciness (sorry, i like to eat super spicy) whilst Tonkatsu Soup (高级豚骨汤底) is comes with not very strong pork flavour, taste good as i don't take pork LOL!

While waiting for the food to get ready, we have some appetizers that you hardly to find in other restaurants, because all made by Taiwanese Sifu with their very own homemade recipe.
Pickled Cherry Tomatoes (梅漬蕃茄), Golden Kimchi (黄金泡菜) and Pickled Mango Lotus Root (芒香藕片).
Personally like pickled mango lotus root, so nice to stimulate my appetite!
I can't stop to eating although i was waiting for the broth boil, LOL!
How can a hot pot dining without dipping sauces?!!
Here you can choose among 10 types of sauces and condiments to DIY your own combination:
酱料 Sauces & Condiments
青葱 Green Onion
大蒜 Chopped Garlic
辣椒 Chilli Sauce
泰国辣酱 Thai Chill Sauce
水果酱 Fruit Sauce
沙茶酱 Satay Paste
酱油 Soy Sauce
香菜 Parsley
芝麻酱 Sesame Sauce
豆腐乳 Fermented Bean Curd
Hmm... those sauces are just nothing special? NOPE! You'll always surprise by Chun Ciou Hot Pot.  You must customize Chun Ciou's signature dipping sauce (golden egg yolk sukiyaki sauce) which known as the authentic Taiwanese dipping sauce from raw ingredients!
4 easy steps to create golden egg yolk sukiyaki sauce 黄金蛋黄酱汁
Step 1 - Add sesame sauce into sauce bowl (Put more for sweeter taste)
Step 2 - Add 1 raw egg yolk for smoother texture
Step 3 - Add chopped shallots and spring onions to enhance more layers to the taste

Jeng Jeng Jeng!!! Here is the signature sauce that can enhance the texture and juiciness of the meat while making the temperature just nice to stimulate your taste buds.

将军霜降牛 Australian Striploin is my love!!!!! I choose to dip this thinly slice into the Sukiyaki soup base for few seconds and enjoy the delicate beef flavour and velvety texture. I don't eat pork, so i just non-stop eating this Australian Ribeyes and Australian Striploin until my stomach burst!
* If you want to take picture same as my first picture, order Australian Striploin as it comes with fog effect that created by dry ice.
Most of the meatballs are imported from Taiwan such as wasabi ball, hot sesame ball, premium prawn ball, premium cuttlefish ball and juicy spicy ball.

Highly recommended Wasabi Ball(芥未丸) and spicy ball(麻辣丸) if you love to eat spicy.
Black Sesame Mochi Ball (黑芝麻糯米糍) is the highlight of hot pot too. You might feel awkward that we soak mochi in soup, but it is Taiwanese hot pot culture.
Dump the mochi in salty soup, it was amazingly taste good! You must try it.
Do not forget their Taiwanese Braised pork rice (卤肉饭), similar taste with the famous Lu Rou Fan at Taiwan!!

Add some vegetable as they are all great at picking up the flavours from the soup, my top choice must be the cabbage as hearty cabbage gets slightly sweet after long cooking!

鲍鱼菇 Abalone Mushroom / 金针菇 Golden Mushroom / 香菇 Mushroom /
西红枣 Tomota / 山药 Chinese Yam / 红薯 Sweet Potato / 毛瓜 Chieh Gua /

甜品 Desserts

紫米红豆汤 Red Bean Black Glutinous Rice Soup
冰淇淋 Ice Cream
The red bean soup is thick and studded with tiny, ever so slightly chewy black glutinous rice. The mild, sweet flavour is good you'll never have enough especially add some extra warmth during the cold weather.
Sweet Lemon Slices 柠檬砂糖片
This is extremely helpful in getting rid of bloating and gas, also improved digestion.

I was like indulge in a real Taiwan ambience over a piece of premium quality meat, homemade appetiser and recipe, customer service and sauces. The staffs will come and ask you need to reload anything on table. Seriously, i had too many pieces of premium air-flown meat yesterday, price range is consider affordable while all ingredients and service they provided are excellent. Franky speaking, i had bad hotpot experience in Taiwanese famous restaurant, have to order in package set and cost me RM100 per pax, at the end i got to go home cook maggie mee because there are too little to feed me. So, you just need to pay RM80-90 and eat until FULL, worth it! Guess what, my mum keep asking me to bring her go and try after saw my social media picture. LOL!
MUST call to make reservation first to avoid disappointment.
