Chinese New Year is the most important occasion for Chinese. The most traditional and cherished aspect of the New Year is reuniting with family and gathering all of the generations together for a sumptuous reunion dinner.

Yee Sang with White Fish Baits
Toss to prosperity, longevity, good health and wealth with Yee Sang that featuring fried white fish baits, crackers and condiments. Served with a tangy plum sauce dressing, the white fish baits fried until golden perfection and crispy, added a nice biting texture to the colourful Yee Sang. In Lai Ching Yuen, there are a range of yee sang available : soft shell crab, abalone, smoked duck, jelly fish and more.
Wok-fried Prawns with Spicy Sauce
Prawns, read as ” ha ” in Cantonese which is homonym to laugh, it is a must-have dish in Chinese New Year menu. Succulent prawns generously glazed in spicy sauce, served with fried mantous (buns). Mop up the mouth- watering gravy with the crisp-crusted buns, it taste amazing especially the spicy thick sauce give a kick! It make me think of Chilli Crab gravy, luxurious, rich, spicy and so satisfying.
Steamed Live Catfish with Minced Ginger
I am a fan of fish, Cantonese steamed catfish is a traditional and simple dish that's often served in Chinese banquet but it is not easy because we always can taste the fishy of catfish. I am very happy that this live catfish was steamed perfectly with soy sauce and topped with freshly chopped ginger and scallions. The meat is tender and juicy.
Roasted “Pi Pa” Style Crispy Chicken with Prawn Crackers
We enjoy this succulent meat which locked with moisture and a moderately crispy skin on the outside. The chicken itself loaded with flavor, but you can dip with plum powder if you prefer the extra if you prefer a twist of flavour.
Stir-fried Hong Kong Kailan with Enoki Mushroom
Fried Rice with Assorted Chinese Waxed Meat wrapped in Lotus Leaves
Aromatic fried rice with assorted bits of Chinese waxed Meat and wrapped in lotus leaf. I love this because every spoonful of the rice is filled with yam cubes also!
Last, we were raised with dessert as a reward for a well-eaten meal. We had this elegant duo dessert,
Nian Gao 步步高升 - 煎,炸年糕 and Double-boiled White Fungus with Longan and Sea Coconut
Nian gao served in two ways – pan-fried Nian gao that coated with egg batter and another version is deep-fried Nian ago and layering with yam.
